RNAS Yeovilton’s 70th Anniversary
RNAS Yeovilton will be celebrating its 70th Anniversary at their annual Air Day on Saturday 10th July 2010 with an attendance of some 35,000 people.
An extensive flying and static display will take place to mark this significant anniversary with historic aircraft such as the Swordfish, Seafire, Sea Fury, Sea Hawk and Sea Vixen, coming together with other vintage aircraft and their modern counterparts to highlight the role that RNAS Yeovilton Squadrons have played, and continue to play, in operations throughout the decades to the present day.
Other UK and foreign military participants will also join the celebrations with fast jets, large transporters, various types of helicopters and top international aerobatic display teams. The finale to the event will be the renowned Commando Assault Demonstration supported by the RAF and Army with plenty of pyrotechnics!
Throughout the day, groups will also have the chance to enjoy plenty of entertainment on the ground including the Fleet Air Arm Museum, interactive military displays, Royal Marines Band, classic and military vehicle exhibitions, funfair, simulators, helicopter pleasure flights, trade stalls and much more.
