GO BEHIND THE SCENES

GO BEHIND THE SCENES

Group visitors to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard will have the opportunity to take part in a naval tradition as part of a growing partnership with the Royal Navy; as well as go behind the scenes of some of the world’s most famous hidden treasures as part of an established, yet invigorated events programme.

Navy Days, organised in conjunction with the Royal Navy will be taking place from 31 July to 1 August and promises to be one of the most popular events on the south coast this summer. The event will feature serving warships from the Royal Navy as well as foreign navies, alongside the famous historic ships and attractions that help to tell 800 years of naval history.

During their visit, groups can step aboard and see behind the scenes of modern warships, witness naval demonstrations and displays in the harbour, in the air and on the dockside, as well as historical re-enactments on iconic vessels such as HMS Victory and HMS Warrior 1860.

A Victorian Festival of Christmas will also return in 2010 following its most successful year to date in 2009, with a provisional date of 26 to 28 November.

Groups of 15 or more receive a 15% early bird discount on special events with a 10% discount leading up to the event. Coach drivers get into the Historic Dockyard attractions for free. Discounts are also available for groups on standard visits to the Historic Dockyard throughout the year, subject to the special events programme.
