Christmas days out with The National Trust

Treat groups to the magic of Christmas this festive season at one of the many seasonal events at National Trust places. Warm up with mulled wine, pick up some gifts for loved ones or get into the seasonal spirit with a spot of carol singing at one of our stunning venues this Christmas.

Here’s a selection of some of the best Christmas events for groups to enjoy across the country:

Arlington Court and the National Trust Carriage Museum, Devon
Homemade Christmas fair, 19-20 November 11am-3pm
Shop for handmade Christmas presents in the wintry setting of Arlington Court estate. Find something special from local stall holders, with unique products from jewellery to jams and shawls to decorations, and take the chance to browse the festive treats on offer in the National Trust shop. What’s more, after catching up on your Christmas shopping, visitors can step into the fantasy world of Narnia, as C.S. Lewis’s classic tale of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is brought to life in the house and grounds in the run up to Christmas day.
Group cost to visit - £4, plus £1 per Narnia trail.

Speke Hall, Garden and Estate, Liverpool
Victorian Christmas weekends, 26-27 November, 3-4 & 10-11 December 1pm-4pm
Get into the Christmas spirit at Speke Hall and see the ground floor beautifully decorated for a Victorian Christmas. Enjoy carols in the great hall, festive refreshments, tours, activities and more. Group cost to visit - £6.70.

Attingham Park, Shropshire
Christmas Frost Fair, 2-4 December 10am-4pm
Avoid the crowded shopping centres this year and make Christmas shopping an enjoyable experience at Attingham, with over one hundred high quality, local craft and food stalls in this beautiful historic setting. It is the ideal place to find the perfect gift.

Buckland Abbey, Devon
Christmas at the Abbey, 2-23 December 11pm-4pm, plus 17 December 6pm-9pm
Join us for Christmas at Buckland as we decorate the Abbey with traditional festive displays including a Victorian kitchen. Fun for all the family in a relaxed atmosphere – on the weekends and daily from 16 December we will have Father Christmas, volunteers in period costume, pomander making, Tudor games and traditional decoration making.
Normal admission charges apply (except late night opening, when just £2.50 per adult, children free); £2 per child to meet Father Christmas.

Anglesey Abbey, Gardens and Lode Mill, Cambridgeshire
A Lantern-lit Christmas, 3 December 2pm-8pm
Celebrate the magic of Christmas at Anglesey Abbey this December. With longer opening hours for one-night only, there’s plenty of opportunity to browse through the imaginative gifts in our shop and enjoy mulled wine and mince pies. Soak up the atmosphere with festive music then join in the lantern procession at 5pm, when the Winter Garden will be alive with twinkling lights, music and festive spirit.

Kedleston Hall, Derbyshire
Edwardian Christmas, 3-4 and 10-11 December 11am-3pm
Experience Christmas of a bygone era as you walk through the ground floor of Kedleston Hall decorated in an Edwardian style to Caesar’s Hall, laid out for a festive feast near the great Christmas tree. Santa will be dropping by and bringing his reindeer, while costumed characters will help you learn about Christmas in times gone by.

Ham House and Garden, Surrey
Christmas fair, 3-4, 10-11 & 17-18 December 11am – 5pm
The popular Christmas fair returns to Ham House. Find exciting and original Christmas gift ideas from the National Trust and from local artisans and traders. The fair takes place in a marquee. There will also be family activities and entertainment in the basement of the house and the Orangery will be open all day for seasonal refreshments.
Adult £3.65, child £2.45 and family £9.75 (2 adults + 2 children). National Trust members go free. Admission fee includes the family activities.

Lanhydrock, Cornwall
Carols in the Church, 3-4, 10-11 and 17-18 December 2pm-2.30pm and 3pm-3.30pm
Join local music groups every weekend this December to celebrate Christmas with carols in Lanhydrock’s parish church. Make sure you stop in to the largest National Trust gift shop in Cornwall for some Christmas shopping (special late opening on 15 December).
