This year Shrewsbury Flower Show will be celebrating its 125th event and plans are well under way to make the show bigger and better than ever! Event organisers are inviting everyone to get involved, and what better way than creating your very own show garden?
A show garden is a wonderful opportunity for businesses, schools and budding gardeners to showcase their creative horticultural talent and a great way to have fun, raise your school or business profile and put green fingers to good use.
Keen to encourage entries and spark inspiration, organisers have arranged for award winning garden designer, Mike Vout, and Teresa Rham, who has supported Mike on several garden design projects, to offer creative tips and share some of their valuable experience. Mike will also be on hand to answer any questions at the event, which will take place on Monday 27 February between 6pm and 8pm, at St Chad’s Church Hall.
Mike, a qualified landscape architect and regular exhibitor at high profile events such as the Chelsea and Malvern Flower Shows, has a reputation of coming up with ‘something different’. His inspirational garden design for Wrekin Housing Trust, using only recycled materials, wowed the judges at the 2011 Shrewsbury Flower Show, and was awarded one of the Shropshire Horticultural Society’s prestigious Gold Medals, as well as the Mike Hough Trophy for Best Outdoor Garden.
Event organiser Gordon Parry said: “Our show gardens are a great way to get involved and there is no charge to attend the evening, refreshments will be provided, and all are welcome.”
