The C Factor
Manchester has so much to offer groups, including fantastic shopping, exciting entertainment, and stunning historic sites. One of their new attractions is Chill Factore, a dazzling new sports and social venue, which is the UK’s first Alpine ski village complete with real snow, restaurants, bars and cafes, and great shopping facilities. The venue has also been chosen as the UK’s championship indoor snow sports venue, so it promises to host an exciting calendar of events in 2008. Chill Factore is set to become one of the country’s top 20 visitor attractions, as it’s next door to the Trafford Centre, one of the best shopping centres in the country. Top draw
Also in Manchester, is The Manchester City FC Museum and Stadium Tour, which appeals to all groups, even those without any interest in football or sport. The museum staff provide an informative and entertaining tour which can be tailored to the needs of every group. Bespoke tours can be arranged on a variety of subjects, including local history, urban regeneration, the Commonwealth Games, music, and of course football, making the tour a favourite amongst English football venues. Hats off
Another favourite attraction for groups is Hat Works, the UK’s only museum dedicated solely to the hatting industry. Hat Works offers an exciting programme of exhibitions next year, starting with Crowning Glories: Architecture for the Head, which runs until 2 February 2008, and looks at a stunning array of hats that are guaranteed to turn heads. Then from 14 January to 13 April 2008, What’s Hot! displays the latest collection of garden-inspired hats to brighten up your winter. There’s also the chance to take a tour of the museum with your group, which is led by an expert guide who will share their knowledge about the history of the hatting industry. The tour gives you an insight into the processes involved in producing a hat, plus you can learn more about the cottage industry and enjoy demonstrations with their original working Victorian-style machinery. Light refreshments and lunches can be enjoyed in their café, which offers a range of choices that groups can pre-order. Time travel
Just half a mile up the road from Hat Works you’ll find another group attraction - Staircase House. Here you can travel through time, from 1460 to WWII, and experience every century in between. Learn how people used to live and how society and our attitudes have changed over time. You’ll find group tours available where you can choose between an audio or guided tour, and even add in refreshments on request. Once your journey is complete you can browse in their gift shop or enjoy a relaxing hot drink in Blackshaw’s Café. Garden treats
Groups can also enjoy a great day out at Stapeley Water Gardens, where you can explore dazzling plant life, step into beautiful Italian gardens, and stroll by the tranquil water gardens.
