A
gateway to the south east
With the south east covering counties such as Kent, Surrey, Sussex, and Hamphire, it’s always going to be difficult deciding where to head first. So to help you choose, we’ve picked out places your group can’t afford to miss.
Sandown Park, one of London’s Racecourses, is hosting two great days of racing for the Betfred Gold Cup on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 April. Over the years the racecourse has seen victories for many of steeple chasing’s great names, and horses who’ve tackled the Grand National fences at the start of the month can be seen in action for their final appearance of the season. After the racing on Saturday, The Bootleg Beatles will be providing some entertainment in a 75-minute live-set. Sandown Park also offers a wide selection of catering facilities, with the bar and restaurant offering excellent views of the racecourse. The gates open at 11am on Friday with the first race at 2.10pm. Groups of 6 or more get a 20% discount plus a free racecard for each person within the group.

A tall order
For another action-packed day out with your group, head down to Portsmouth and visit the famous Spinnaker Tower. Soaring 170 metres above Portsmouth Harbour, the Tower is taller than the London Eye, Blackpool Tower, and Big Ben, and offers visitors spectacular 360º views over the harbour and the south coast from glass encapsulated viewing decks. On deck 1 you’ll find Europe’s largest glass floor, where visitors can literally ‘walk on air’, while deck 2 offers self-contained multimedia stations showing the history of the harbour. Spinnaker Tower is open every day except Christmas Day. For more information visit their website or give them a call on the number below.
