Hat Works is the UK’s only museum dedicated to the hatting industry, hats and headwear. This award winning visitor attraction offers 2 floors of interactive exhibits taking you on a journey through the history of Stockport’s once thriving hatting industry.

The Machinery Floor used to form part of an old Hat Factory and has been recreated to house fully-working Victorian Style machinery. The old hatters have been replaced with knowledgeable guides who tell the story of one of Britain’s once great industries.  

On the Gallery floor the impressive collection has an array of hats dating from the early 19^th century, with origins from across the world. From the traditional to the bizarre, couture to comical – we have them all!

Group visits can be tailored to the specific requirements of your party. The tours can be customised to the length of time you have to spend at the museum and to the size of your party. The Level 2 café offer a range of light refreshments and lunches that can be pre-ordered.
